Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 3 highlights

Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 3 highlights are giving a clear indication of an exciting end of the Test match as both Australia and India have chances of ensuring the 2-1 lead in the four-Test series that is scheduled to be over at Brisbane.

Considering the chances for both the teams to register victory, Australia as of now, looks ahead of its opposition. They have finished the third day with a positive note with 197 runs’ lead in the second innings with 103 for 2 wickets only at stumps.

Their chances of winning this Test seem to be brighter following their two unbeaten batsmen at stumps at the end of the third day, Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith’s superb form and at the same time, the sudden collapse of Indian bowling.

Now India needs its bowlers to revamp themselves and deliver their best to end Australia’s innings within 197 to earn the desired victory and take the lead in the ongoing series. The pitch at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has already started showing unpredictable behaviour since the Friday as Rishabh Pant and Rabindra Jadeja were struck by bouncers and both of them have gone for scan. None of these two was able to take on field on Saturday as Wriddhiman Saha had to stand behind the stumps in Pant’s absence.

Mohammad Siraj spawned some hope early when he forced the man-in-form Will Pucovski to go back to pavilion, getting him caught behind Saha for 10 runs as Australia lost its first wicket for only 16 runs. R. Ashwin struck immediately, trapping David Warner LBW for 13 with Australia losing its second wicket at 35. Warner got out at the hands of Ashwin for 10th time in Test.

The initial optimism India was trying to materialize was spoiled by Labuschagne and Smith. Both of them had simply torn insipid and dwindling Indian bowling attack and they were looking solid and almost flawless. Labuschagne is unbeaten at 47 off 69 deliveries including six excellent fours while Smith is not out at 29 off 63 balls including three fours. Bumrah, having bowled 8 overs has given away 26 wicket-less runs although a couple of his deliveries have struck both the batsmen’s toes and with the pitch not behaving properly Bumrah can be expected to be dangerous and on such an unpredictable pitch Ashwin can also be a threat on Sunday morning but Jadeja’s absence will be felt if he is not able to step on to the field on Sunday. He was the man to have cracked Australia’s first innings by capturing four wickets. Ashwin has given away 28 runs in 6 overs while Siraj who has scalped the other wicket has given away 20 runs from 8 overs.

Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 3 highlights also showed the collapse of Indian batting. Starting with overnight 96 or 2, Indian innings collapsed to 244 surprisingly. Cheteshwar Pujara, who was expected to regain his form, got out for 50 despite having played 176 deliveries of the bowling of Pat Cummins. The captain Ajinkya Rahane who had an inimitable century at Melbourne that played a crucial role in India’s memorable victory was bowled by Cummins or only 22 in the first innings. Then only Pant (36) and Rabindra Jadeja (unbeaten 28) tried to resist but ultimately failed to salvage the team from the fall down. The last 6 wickets in Indian innings fell within 49 runs.

Australia vs India 3rd Test Day 3 highlights also saw Australian bowlers delivering at sheer precision. Especially, Pat Cummins who had 4 wickets from 29 runs in 21.4 overs was magnificent throughout Indian innings. Josh Hazlewood also was equally lethal with his controlled way-swing deliveries, claimed 2 wickets from 43 runs in 21 overs.
