Head-to-Head

It is time for fantastic Friday! Let’s go to Delhi and see what’s all the buzz is all about! Well, it’s the Chennai Super Kings taking on the Mumbai Indians at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and we can’t wait for the sun to set. It is going to be a blockbuster contest because we are going to witness two of the strongest sides battling it out against each other. These two have competed against each other at the highest level – playing the finals against each other. Tonight, the situation is different, both teams are meeting at a neutral venue, and while CSK sit at the top of the table, Mumbai Indians is placed at the fourth position on the points table.

Good news about the CSK camp is that they are back with a bang in this league! Just when everybody thought, they had lost their touch, and the team will never be the same again, Dhoni’s men showcased what it is like to be the best team. They proved that even the best of teams can have a bad season but that doesn’t mean they have forgotten how to win!

Speaking of Mumbai, Rohit’s men have done well to keep them in a safe position on the points table. They know they are a better team than this and there is a lot more they can do to move up the table. Till now, they have won 3 and lost 3 while CSK has lost just 1 game out of 6 so they will be cautious in this match. Chennai could take away this game from their hands if they do not bring their best game t the Kotla.

Pitch Conditions

The match will be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Kotla has a smaller boundaries and it is easy build on a good score when you have a lengthy batting line-up which both teams have. The ball might turn a bit in the middle overs. Overall this will be a good match to watch in terms of batting, we could witness a lot of sixes today.

Batting

MI :

Mumbai has the most sorted batting line- up. They have Rohit sharma and Quinton De Kock at the top. Then they have youngsters like Ishan Kishan and in-form Suryakumar Yadav. If a team goes past them , then comes the swashbuckling batsman Pollard and then the Pandya brothers at the tail end. It goes on and on till the very end. This means that whichever side is taking them on will have to be ready for some massive hitting and hope that this batting crumbles making blunders otherwise there is truly little chance.

CSK:

At this point CSK won’t be worried much about their batting department. Faf du Plessis is performing exceedingly well. They have players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali to back them up and the have the fearless Suresh Raina who is taking on the bowlers in every match. Dhoni played a helping hand in the last few matches, but now he will have to come around for his team smash some big runs. His presence in the batting order very much needed, adds a lot of experience. They also have a certain Ravindra Jadeja who can smash the ball out of the park in the death overs.

Bowling:

MI:

Their bowling department is looking strong enough to take on the Chennai Super Kings. Rahul Chahar will be their go-to bowler and he has been maintaining a low economy throughout and will be their go-to bowler in the death overs, there is no doubt about that. He’ll be accompanied by Trent boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile who could make a huge impact this season.  They have Piyush Chawla in the spin department and also young pacer Arjun Tendulkar. It will be interesting to see how they pick their mix of bowlers on this slow pitch. They haven’t picked Arjun yet and it will be interesting to see when that happens.

CSK:

They have a lot of players in their arsenal who did amazing things in the previous match, taking good number of wickets under their belt for the CSK in the tournament. The combination of Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar is looking good with newfound confidence in the CSK camp and will get a bit of help from fellow spinner Imran Tahir. Deepak Chahar has shown a lot of promise since the last season of the league and he will be matching steps with either Imran Tahir or Lungi Ngidi, both are looking in a decent touch this season.
