India needs us - Top Australian cricketers crew up to raise assets for India battle against Coronavirus

Australian cricketers extend support through UNICEF Australia

India is not only struggling to survive from the second wave of Covid-19, the country’s people are also appalled by the intensity Covid-19 has offered Indian people with sheer aggression. The rapid growth looks a little under control for the last few days. Still, the country is suffering from 3.5 lakh cases every day. The number of active cases is presently more than a huge 37 lakh and at the same time shortage of oxygen has been another severe issue that is causing death all over the country. Coronavirus also cracked the bio-secure bubble of the Indian Premier League this year in its mid-way.

Several cricketers from different teams were contaminated by the virus that forced BCCI suspending the competition after the 29th match of the League. 

Many cricketers had extended their support to help the country during these tough times. Many Australian players who had been part of the suspended IPL have also offered aid now through UNICEF Australia to the Indian families suffering from severe disease. Their message is India needs us - Top Australian cricketers team up to raise funds for India's fight against covid-19.

Leading Australian cricketers like Pat Cummins, Brett Lee, Ellyse Perry, Allan Border, Meg Lanning, Rachael Haynes, and other few players have extended support towards India. UNICEF Australia’s official Twitter handle has disclosed the same in a video where these cricketers have requested others to come forward and help India during these troubled times.

"No one can do everything. But everyone can do something," the Aussie cricketers said while appealing to everyone to help. Teaming up altogether, the Australian cricketers who are in a movement like India needs us - Top Australian cricketers team up to raise funds for India fight against covid-19 have pledged to fellow Australians also to provide financial aid according to their capacity through UNICEF Australia.

However, the Australian cricketers, officials, and coaches who were in India featuring in the suspended IPL are currently in the Maldives and are serving their mandatory quarantine before flying back home. The Australian government has banned all flights and citizens (even their own citizens) from India which has led to this problem for the players.

The ban remains till 15th May while the players are hoping to be back in the country after spending enough time in the Maldives. The IPL was suspended on 4th May after players of a few teams like Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy, Tim Seifert, and Sandeep Warrier tested Covid-19 positive. All these players were teammates of Pat Cummins who donned KKR shirts.
