IPL 2021 Schedule Time Table Complete Details

The start to this IPL couldn’t have been better with two of the best players in the world going against each other. Starting with the defending champions Mumbai Indians, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that they are the best team in the league both on the paper and on the field. They have worked really hard to become the team they are today, and it clearly shows! Apart from the core team, this year they have on boarded players like Piyush Chawla, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Milne, James Neesham, and young Arjun Tendulkar. These players provide them with ample bench strength and also adds a lot of variety. If we look at their batting, they have Rohit, Ishan Kishan, Pandya brothers, Suryakumar, Quinton de Kock and Pollard while their bowling attack has the likes of Bumrah and Boult. It’s the spin department that they’ll have to sit and think about, Piyush will add in a lot of experience.

As long as Bangalore is concerned, they have been on a shopping spree this season and have on boarded some of the biggest names in T20 cricket like Glenn Maxwell, Kylie Jamieson, and Daniel Christian which adds a lot of depth to their middle-order and to their bowling department as well. All eyes as usual will be on Captain Kohli and AB de Villiers, they will be expected to take the game head on like it happens every year. Youngster Devdutt Padikkal has finally recovered from COVID 19 and will be back in the side. They have been a good bowling unit and it will be interesting to see which combination they pick for the first match! Whatever happens, this is going to be one hell of an opener to the 14th season!

Pitch Conditions

The recentmatches played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium has assisted the spinners a lot, and this trendmay continue in the IPL 2021 as well. This wicket is being coined as sluggish and anything above 150 runs will be a competitive total for the team batting second.

Batting

MI :

Defending champions Mumbai will be relying heavily on their top order tonight and skipper Rohit sharma will have to fire with his bat along with partner Quinton De Kock. Although the former is looking in a sublime form and is capable of taking the match away, the latter has failed to fire in the past and will have to find his feet soon. Suryakumar Yadav is looking strong in the middle while Ishan Kishan is in the form of his life. Then, there are Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard. This makes them a solid batting side.

RCB :

The RCB have some really strong batsmen including the best batsmen in the world Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in their line-up and the good news is that Virat is back on the scoring sheet! If they want to go for some interesting options for tonight, there is Aron Finch and Moeen Ali and also a certain Josh Phillipe. Youngsters Devdutt Padikkal, Shivam Dube, Pawan Negi, Shahbaz Ahmed and Washington Sundar provide them plenty of options to choose from and these boys are getting good exposure.

Bowling

MI :

Their bowling department is looking strong enough to take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Jasprit Bumrah has displayed why he is the best bowler in the world as he has been maintaining a low economy throughout and will be their go-to bowler in the death overs, there is no doubt about that. He’ll be accompanied by Trent boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile who could make a huge impact this season.  They have Piyush Chawla in the spin department and also young pacer Arjun Tendulkar. It will be interesting to see how they pick their mix of bowlers on this sluggish pitch.

RCB :

The Bangalore team looks as strong in the bowling department as they are in the batting department. Navdeep Saini has been phenomenal to watch and did an exceptional job in their previous match, bowling in the death overs. Umesh Yadav is going through a rough patch but is still looking promising.  Mohammed Siraj and Kane Richardson add a lot of depth to the line-up while the star of the show this year has been Yuzvendra Chahal with some really good performances and the purple cap contender for his team.

Match Prediction

MI is an excellent outfit, given the fact that they have been really consistent with their ways and their ways have worked in every match they have played. Be it their strong batting departmentor their mix of bowlers, their ideas always seem to work. This pitch will support spinners which may be a area of concern for the Indians.

On the other hand, RCB are in solid form and it showed in the last season about 5 months ago. Their skipper has also picked up pace and is back scoring some useful runs for his team. They are a formidable batting side and are stronger on this ground because they have a really good batting unit and exceptionally long bench of bowlers.

Sportswhoop’s pick for tonight: Royal Challengers Bangalore
