Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi shine in KKR’s 10-run victory over Hyderabad  

Manish Pandey’s brilliant 61 off 44 balls went in vain as Kolkata Knight Riders opened their account in the 14th edition of the IPL with a clear victory of 10 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad In the KKR VS Sunrisers Hyderabad, held in Chennai on Sunday. In reply to KKR’s 187 for 6 Hyderabad innings ended in 177 for the loss of 5 wickets. Jonny Bairstow also tried to fight back, scoring 55 off 40 balls. Prasidh Krishna obtained 2 wickets at the cost of 35 runs in his 4 overs while Shakib, Pat Cummins, and Andre Russell managed 1 wicket each. 

In the KKR VS Sunrisers Hyderabad match, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field first. Kolkata Knight Riders, batting first, had scored 187 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Emulating speculations over the batsmen of the KKR like Andree Russell, Shubman Gill, Eoin Morgan, Shakib Al Hasan who would carry out the innings, the Indian cricketers like Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi had come up with their potential and built up the KKR innings. Both Rana and Tripathi targeted shorter boundary and they made a partnership of 93 runs in 50 balls only. Even the most economic and experienced bowler of Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not spared by these two batsmen.

KKR VS Sunrisers Hyderabad witnessed Nitish Rana opening with Shubman Gill, scored a brilliant 80 off 56 deliveries, hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes. Even though Gill could not stay on the crease for long (15 off 13 deliveries) Rana, partnering with Rahul Tripathi took KKR to a formidable score. Tripathi struck a hurricane 53 off 29 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Both Russell (5) and KKR captain Eoin Morgan (2) failed to score. However, KKR survived in its last phase after Dinesh Karthik executed a quick unbeaten 22 off only 9 balls. Shakib also got out for only 3. Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan scalped 2 wickets each for Hyderabad, giving away 34 runs and 24 runs, respectively.
