The stadium was initially constructed in 1983. In 2015 the stadium was closed and demolished before being completely rebuilt by February 2020, at an estimated cost of ₹800 crores and an increase in capacity to 1,10,000.

2. Eden Gardens, Kolkata- (80,000)

Eden Gardens is regarded as the home of Indian cricket. The ground has also been referred to as "cricket's answer to the Colosseum," and is acknowledged to be one of the most iconic cricket stadiums in the world. Eden Gardens is also called the “Mecca of Indian cricket” because it was the first officially built cricket ground in India. The stadium currently has a capacity of 80,000 and is a multi-purpose ground also used to play Football. It will also be the home ground of East Bengal FC in ISL season 7 2020-21. It is the oldest and second-largest cricket stadium in India after the newly built Sardar Patel Stadium and third in the world after Sardar Patel Stadium and Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Eden Gardens is the home venue of the Bengal cricket team and the IPL franchise KKR - Kolkata and is a venue for Test, ODI and T20I matches of the India national cricket team.

The stadium was established in 1916 and it is the second oldest cricket stadium in the country after Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, also known as the New VCA stadium is situated in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. This ground is also the largest cricket stadium in India in terms of a field area. The ground was inaugurated in 2008, replacing the old Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground as the main stadium of the city and has the capacity to host 45,000 people.
