Badminton is a game played on a court with rackets and a shuttlecock. The opponents are separated by the net and some boundaries have been set for the competition.


The players who play this game should be powerful and have endurance. Badminton is played in different forms and the basic form of this sport is singles.

 

Let's just take a brief read at some of the best male badminton players from India.

 

1.    Srikanth Kidamb 

The first player on the list is Srikanth Kidamb, a player from Ravulapalem, Andhra Pradesh. He was born on the 7th of February 1993. He basically belongs to a Telugu background.

His older brother was also a badminton player. He was also ranked the first position from around the globe at BWF. In 2019 he was honored with the very prestigious award Padma Shri. In the year 2015, he also achieved the Arjuna Award.

 

2.    Prannoy Kumar

The second player on the list is Prannoy Kumar,  he is from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. He was born on the 17th of July 1992. His full name is Prannoy  Haseena Sunil Kumar. He is now a trainer in Hyderabad at the Gopichand Academy of Badminton.


He is also ranked second position in the male badminton players from India. He also achieved many awards including at the Asian Championships, the South Asian Games, the World Junior Championships, and many others.

 

3.    Prakash Padukone

 The third player on the list is Prakash Padukone, an incredible player from Bangalore, Karnataka. He was born on the 10th day of June 1955.


In 1980 he won the All England Open Badminton Championships and in the same year, he was also ranked as the number one player in the world. In 1972, he was also honored with the Arjuna Award and after ten years in 1982 he was honored with the Padma Shri. He is also one of the founders of the Olympic Gold Quest.

 

4.    Syed Modi

The next player on the list is Syed Modi, a player from a small village named Karma in Uttar Pradesh. He was born in 1962 and in 1988. We lost this player at a very young age.

 

He was the record holder of winning at the National Badminton Championships around eight times. He basically plays in the singles format. In 1982, he was honored at the Commonwealth Games with the title of International Circuit of Badminton in the singles format played for men.

 

5.    Chetan Anand

The last player on the list is Chetan Anand, a player from Vijayawada which is in Andhra Pradesh. He was born on the 8th of July 1980. In 2009, he was placed in the tenth position in the men's singles format.

 

His full name is Chetan Anand Buradagunta. He has also been declared the National Champion around four times. He has also been declared the men's singles format champion at the South Asian Games. In 2006, he was honored with the Arjuna Award.
