Cricketers vocal on Chennai pitch

The pitch at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has been highly criticized by the cricketers like Ben Stokes, Brett Lee and Parthiv Patel after Punjab Kings recorded a nine-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians in the IPL match on Friday. Two Punjab openers Chris Gayle and KL Rahul chased down the poor total of 132 after Mumbai Indians got all out for 131 having lost six wickets. Interestingly, it was noticed that two of the most explosive batsmen, Rahul and Gayle took long 18th over to reach the target on such a sluggish track at MA Chidambaram, in Chennai. Even Rohit Sharma, who is famous for his aggressive batting ability once settling down the wicket, could score 60 off 52 deliveries. However, the slow Chennai track has become a topic of discussion after the match. Parthiv Patel said that the wicket was not at all easy for the batsmen to move on. So Gayle and Rahul both should be credited. Brett Lee went a step further and commented that the surface was shocking. Meanwhile, Stokes described the surface as "trash". “Hope the wickets don’t get worse as the@IPL gets deeper into the tournament.160/170 minimum not scraping to 130/140 cause the wickets are trash,” he wrote on Twitter.
