Kane Williamson proud despite the loss
New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson has commented that he is proud of his teammates despite New Zealand's defeat against Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup final on Sunday in Dubai International Stadium. New Zealand has reached three World Cup finals in white-ball cricket in the last six years but failed to win a single one. Williamson who himself struck a brilliant 85 off 48 deliveries has commented in the post-match conference, "Anything can happen on a particular day. But if you look at our campaign as a whole that the brand of cricket we have demonstrated, I can say I am proud of our efforts throughout the tournament." With 11 months left for the commencement of the next T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Australia, Kiwi skipper revealed he has started looking forward to the next T20 World Cup.
