Kohli's fate as ODI captain is to be decided this week
Virat Kohli's future as India's captain in the One Day International is likely to be decided this week when the national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma selects the team for its South Africa tour. According to BCCI top brass, India's tour to South Africa remains still on schedule although they are keeping a close watch of the situation surrounding the emergence of a new COVID-19 variant in that country. Since one bio-bubble is likely to be built up, a jumbo squad, comprising 20 to 23 cricketers is expected to be selected across all formats. However, there are two thoughts in the BCCI while a section of the officials feel Kohli should continue as ODI captain as only a few ODIs left and the other thought says Rohit Sharma should be handed over the captaincy as he should be given preparation time.
