Shakib, Mustafizur likely to leave IPL early

Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman might have to return to Bangladesh from the ongoing Indian Premier League sooner than planned earlier due to the quarantine rule imposed by the health ministry, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board chief said on Monday 3rd May. As per a new quarantine rule, which came into effect on May 1, foreign travelers coming from India and South Africa will have to go through a 14-day quarantine before resuming work in the country. BCB will need special permission from the Directorate General of Health Services to avail any relaxation on that

Earlier, BCB managed to reduce the quarantine for their foreign coaching staff and cricketers but due to the intensity of the second wave of coronavirus, chances are slim that there would be a relaxation for people coming from either India or South Africa. The Bangladesh national team is expected to return from Sri Lanka and they are not expected to follow the same quarantine rule.

"We have asked them (Shakib and Mustafizur) to let us know what is their plan for the next 15 days while we have also asked the health ministry to know what kind of quarantine protocol the two players will need to follow,'' BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Monday.
