Tejaswin Shankar overcomes the Champion
Tejaswin Shankar is on the list of highest jumpers from India. He now holds the top position at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix as he defeated the Bahamas gold medalist and former champion from around the world, Donald Thomas, in the high jump.
He is currently only a twenty-four-year-old boy who was born in Delhi, India. Today he performed one of the best jumps of 2.26 meters. He also grabbed the first position by pushing Donald Thomas to the second position. He was in the first position with the best highest jump of 2.23 meters.
Donald Thomas is currently thirty-eight years old. Donald Thomas is from the Bahamas, and he was the world champion of the year 2007. He won a gold medal in 2010 at the CWG (Commonwealth Games). Now he has been pushed to the second position by this Indian high jumper named Tejaswin Shankar.
In the four-man field, Darryl Sullivan who is from the USA has recorded his best highest jump of the season which was 2.19 meters and placed third in the list of highest jumpers after Donald Thomas. If we talk about Darryl, he is a specialist in high jumps.
Today, the crowd and the fans encouraged this dynamic player from India very much.
He boosted up and cleared 2.14 meters as well as 2.19 meters including 2.23 meters and the last 2.26 meters in his just 1st four attempts. Shankar is a bronze medalist at the CWG (Commonwealth Games) which was held in 2022 in Birmingham.
He was born on the 21st of December in 1998 in Delhi. He belongs to a Tamil background. He completed his studies in Delhi itself. First, he used to have an interest in cricket but then by seeing his fitness and physical abilities his teacher suggested him to go into the high jump and then the rest is history.
In 2015 he achieved gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games which was held in Apia where he set a record of 2.14 meters. In 2016, he won a silver medal at the South Asian Games which was held in Guwahati. In 2017, he couldn’t play for around six months due to his slipped disc issue.
In 2018, he made the national record with the highest jump of 2.29 meters in the month of April. Last year in 2022, he also won a title in NCAA, which was his second title this time for the state named Kansas.
Tejaswin Shankar shared the winning video of today on his social media handle giving good news to all his fans from all over the world. He mentioned in the post that, “This is a very great start of this New Year and he is very excited for the upcoming tournaments.”
