Warner talks about going back to basics

David Warner, one of the anchormen in Australia's crushing eight-wicket victory against New Zealand in Sunday's Twenty20 World Cup final that helped Australia earn its maiden T20 World Cup title, has recalled how he shaped himself and exhibited a hurricane 53 off 38 deliveries. The left-hand batter commented in a post-match conference, "We did not get much time for practice in the middle of two practice matches. So I decided to go back to basics, trying to hit hard on the hard synthetic wicket that could help me get runs and it clicked finally." Warner also recalled Australia's defeat against New Zealand in the 50-over World Cup final in 2015 and said, "We were hurt with that defeat and tried to change the statistics on Sunday." Warner however has won 'The Player of the Tournament award, being the highest run-scorer for Australia with a total of 289 runs in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.
