World Cricket's direction towards the United States of America

World cricket is now headed towards the United States of America. The International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded the hosting rights of the Twenty20 World Cup in 2024 to the West Indies and the United States of America. Namibia also has been assigned as co-host with South Africa and Zimbabwe for the 50-over One Day World Cup, scheduled to be held in 2027. The move could strengthen ICC's bid to get cricket included in the Olympics for Los Angeles, scheduled to be held in 2028. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has however managed to get hosting rights of three events such 2026 T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka, 2029 50-over Champions Trophy, and the ODI World Cup again after 2011 with Bangladesh, scheduled to be held in 2031.
