Jason Roy overview
Jason Jonathan Roy is a South African-born English cricketer who was born on 21st July 1990 in Durban, South Africa. He plays in all formats for England in International cricket and Surrey Country Cricketer Club in domestic cricket. Jason was born in South Africa and moved to England with his family when he was 10 years old. He was initially schooled at the Hawthorns school for a few years, then Whitgift school, during which he represented Surrey in the age group cricket from under-11 through to under-19 and then at the Academy level.
He then went on to participate in the Surrey under-19 tour to South Africa in 2007, where he top-scored with 51 in a one-day match against Western Province under-19s. He was also one of the members of the 2008 intake of players to the Pemberton Greenish Academy. One of the highlights from his time with Surrey was when he scored 48 off 33 balls in a match against Hampshire on his debut in the One-day format. On his debut in the Second XI championship, Jason scored 88 from 89 balls against Hampshire after Surrey lost 4 wickets for just 89 runs. This performance established him into the team.

Early signs
Jason scored a staggering 677 runs at an average of 48.35 in the NatWest T20 season after which he earned his maiden International call one off T20I in September 2014. During the 2010 season, Jason scored 180 against Essex and 120 against Durham and 104 against Sussex in three successive matches.
ODI Career
Jason made his debut in One-day internationals against Ireland on 8th May 2015 at the Village however, the match was called off due to rain. Roy was a part of an opening partnership of 256 with Alex Hales against Sri Lanka in 2016, which is the highest successful run chase without losing a wicket in ODIs and also the highest partnership for England for any wicket in One day Internationals. Jason scored 180 runs against Australia in an ODI in 2018 which is the highest Individual score for England. Jason Roy and Joe Root had the highest ever third wicket partnership for England, with 221 runs off 220 balls in the same match. Jason has scored 3434 runs from his 86 matches at a strike rate of 107.28. He has 9 hundred and 18 fifties to his name.
