Varun Chakravarthy is an Indian cricketer who was born on 29th August 1991 at Bidar, Karnataka. The 29-year old cricketer is primarily a leg-spinner and a right-hand batsman also.

Before his professional cricketer, Varun served as an architect. He also made a cameo appearance, acting as a club cricketer in the sports-drama film Jeeva, made in the Tamil language in 2014.

Varun Chakravarthy who has participated in only one first-class match, representing Tamil Nadu in 2018-19 Ranji Trophy so far and taken only 1 wicket, giving away 105 runs, made his debut in List ‘A’ cricket for Tamil Nadu in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Gujarat in 2018. Varun earned 1wicket in his maiden appearance, having 10 overs, but gave away 41 runs at an economy rate of 4.10. However, Varun has participated in 9 List ‘A’ matches and claimed 22 wickets at an economy rate of 4.23 including his best bowling figure of 5 for 38.

Varun Chakravarthy made his debut in IPL in December 2019 for Kings XI Punjab. He was bought by the franchise team in the auction for a price of Rs 8.4 crores. In his debut match, Varun gave away 25 huge runs in his opening over. It also created a record of conceding the maximum number of runs. Varun was released by Kings XI Punjab ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. Varun represented Kolkata Knight Riders that year and made his revival, scalping 5 for 20 against Delhi Capitals in Abu Dhabi. Varun has bagged 18 wickets in 14 IPL matches and 5 for 20 has been his best bowling figure so far.
