Harpreet Brar overview

Harpreet Brar is an Indian cricketer. He was born in Moga, Punjab on 16th September 1995. The 25-year-old cricketer is a left-arm orthodox spinner as well as a left-hand batsman.

The spinner had made a fabulous record of scalping 10 wickets in a single innings seven years ago, although in a district-level match. Playing against Hoshiarpur district Harpreet scalped 5 wickets in the first innings and 10 wickets in the second innings to steer the side to the victory. Harpreet later revealed that although it was a district-level match, he became ecstatic just after having thought that he touched the feat legendary Anil Kumble had set by capturing 10 wickets against Pakistan at Feroz Shah Kotla in 1999.

Early signs

Harpreet Brar used to play gully cricket and started thinking about cricket seriously about the game since 2007. He began training under the coaching of Sanjeev Sharma at his school in Zirakpur. But at that time, he was primarily a batsman and used to do bowl occasionally. Following the coach's advice, Harpreet changed his focus from batting to spin bowling and polished his bowling at Bharti Vij academy for around five years. Then his journey in mainstream cricket began with a berth in the under-16 state team for Vijay Merchant Trophy. Harpreet made his debut in senior-level cricket, playing for the under-23 Indian team against the touring under-23 Bangladesh team. Brar however failed to impress, remaining wicket-less at the cost of 34 runs in 8 overs, and with the bat, he remained 2 not out. He has played in only 4 List ‘A’ matches and captured 5 wickets so far with his bowling figure of 4 for 43.
