Ishan Porel overview

Ishan Porel is an Indian cricketer who was born in Hoogly, Bengal on 5th September 1998. He is a right-arm medium pacer and a right-hand batsman. Porel in his early days never thought of being a cricketer. He was underweight, a patient of mild Aquaphobia. That might have been the reason he tried his hands at many other sports like Table Tennis, Swimming, Kabaddi. But he got mentally tired of those sports. Ishan had revealed later that during that period he had watched matches of the World Cup cricket and got encouraged to start playing the game. But it became difficult for him to convince his parents. His parents asked him to concentrate on his studies than trying to settle with sports. But finally, Ishan was able to convince his parents and joined National Sporting Club, a cricket coach9ing center in his hometown in Chandannagar.

Porel started his cricket journey as a middle-order batsman but following advice from his coach he switched over to bowling. His lanky physique helped his coach to advise him to become a fast bowler. But the weak body, especially the weak lower portion was the main obstruction to Porel’s progress as a fast bowler. The bowler finally gained weight after attending National Cricket Academy (NCA) for months where he had trained under the academy's strength and conditioning coach, Anand Date whose personalized observation and training helped Porel to uplift himself as a quick bowler.

Later Porel developed himself in a manner that he earned the ability to deliver at a speed of 140 kilometers and in a bid to gain strength Porel used to run from his house to the Railway station every day with the heavy kit on his shoulder while going to Kolkata for practice and on the way to his home he used tom run from Railway station to home. The hard work rewarded him.
