Simran Singh overview

Prabhsimran Singh, the actual name of Simran Singh is an Indian cricketer who was born 10th August 2000. He is a wicket-keeper and an aggressive batsman. The right-hand batsman, although has not yet made debut in first-class cricket has earned appreciation from Master Blaster Sachin Teldulkar for his bat swing and back-lift.

Former Indian wicket-keeper, batsman and former national selector Kiron More also was highly impressed with the youngster when he was at National Cricket Academy (NCA). The former national selector termed him as the future alternative and right-hand version of Rishabh Pant.

Early signs

Simran hogged limelight while playing in the Punjab under-23 inter-district competition in 2019. He hammered Amritsar bowlers all over the ground, scoring 298 in 301 deliveries, hitting 29 boundaries and 13 sixes. Just after four months of that stunning show Simran led Indian under-19 squad to Asia Cup glory. Simran Singh made his debut in the List ‘A’ cricket for India Emerging team against Afghanistan Emerging team in 2018. However, he failed to click in the match, scoring only 8 runs. He has so far participated in 12 List ‘A’ matches Simran has scored 355 runs at an average of 32.27 with his highest score of 167.

Simran Singh drew attention in his maiden IPL auction in 2018 where he was bought by Kings XI Punjab at an astronomical price of Rs 4.80 crores. He played in only one match in 2019 and scored 16 runs while he played in 2 matches in the 2020 IPL and 15 runs. He has been retained by same Punjab Kings for the 2021 IPL at a price of Rs 55 lakhs.

T20 Career

Simran made his debut in Twenty20 domestic cricket in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Madhya Pradesh in 2019. But in his maiden T20 match he also got out at a duck, playing only 2 deliveries. But gradually Simran developed himself and established as a competent batsman for the shortest format of the game. He has so far played in 23 T20 matches and scored 603 runs at a strike rate of 139.58 including his highest score of unbeaten 89.
