Hazratullah Zazai overview

Hazaratullah was born on 23rd March 1998, in Paktia, Afghanistan. Hazaratullah bats for the Afghanistan National cricket team. Zazai made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team on 16th December 2016 against the United Arab Emirates. Hazaratullah scored the highest individual score by an Afghan batsman in a Twenty20 International in February 2019, smashing an unbeaten 162 runs off just 62 balls against Ireland. Zazai made heads turn when he hit six sixes in an over playing for Kabul Zwanan in the Afghanistan Premier league in Sharjah against the Balkh Legends .He made a 44-ball hundred in the APL and his name started to flourish across the world.

In February 2019, Zazai smashed 162* against Ireland in the third match of the T20 league at Dehradun. He helped Afghanistan post a world record total on the board – 278 by hitting 16 sixes in his innings. Zazai made his ODI debut for Afghanistan against Ireland on 27 August 2018. He was eventually selected in Afghanistan's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019.

Early signs

In August 2018, Zazai scored the fastest T20I fifty by an Afghan cricketer, in 22 balls against Ireland. He scored 162 not out in the second T20I match against Ireland, it was the highest score for an Afghan batsman in a T20I match, and the second highest score overall In February 2019, 10 runs behind Aaron Finch's 172. Zazai’s innings included 16 sixes, he and his partner Usman Ghani added 236 runs for the first wicket which was also a record for any wicket in a T20I. Afghanistan posted a total of 278 runs for the loss of just three wickets, the highest total in a T20I match.

ODI Career

Zazai made his ODI debut against Ireland at the Civil services club, on August 27th, 2018. He has played 16 One day Internationals in his career so far and has 361 runs to his name at a strike rate of 88.26. He has smashed 17 sixes and 38 fours in his short career and averages 22.56 in the 50-over format. He last played in an ODI against West Indies in November 2019.
