Navdeep Saini overview

Navdeep Saini is an Indian cricketer who was born on 23rd November 1992 has played for Delhi in domestic cricket since 2013. Saini made his T20 debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy on 2nd January 2016 in his domestic career.

Saini belongs to a new crop of Indian bowlers who has led Delhi’s pace attack with a lot of sincerity. The right-arm medium pacer, on the back of 34 wickets helped the Delhi Ranji Team reach to the 2017-18 final. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018–19, he came out as the leading wicket taker with 16 wickets in just 8 matches.

Early signs

In the year 2018, he was selected in the India’s Test squad as a replacement of Mohammed Shami, unfortunately he didn’t get the chance to play. The next year was turned out lucky for him as he got selected in the India’s ODI and T20I squad for their series against West Indies, where he made his T20I debut on 3rd August 2019 and his ODI debut on 22nd December 2019.

ODI Career

Saini made his ODI debut on 22nd December 2019 against West Indies at Barabati Stadium where his performance was exceptional as he took 2 wickets in that match. Since his debut, Saini has played 5 ODI matches from which he scored 53 runs in 2 innings and has scalped 5 wickets at an economy rate of 6.27.

Saini made his IPL debut for the RCB – Bangalore against the CSK - Chennai at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 23rd March 2019. He has played 26 IPL matches so far and has taken 17 wickets so far at an average of 45.65.

T20 Career

Saini made his T20I debut on 3rd August 2019 against West Indies at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground. On his T20I debut he took three major wickets of Pollard, Hetmyer and Pooran which was enough to slower down the inning of West Indies and was awarded as the man of the match. He has played 9 T20I matches and has scalped 13 wickets at an economy rate of 7.16.

The youngster has deceptive pace along with swing and accuracy that makes him a dangerous contender. He has the capability to learn new things every day and execute them in right place. So, it would be interesting to watch the matches he is going to play in future.
