Early signs
Pawan Negi made his debut in first-class cricket in 2011 against Haryana, representing Delhi. In his opening, Ranji Trophy matches the 28-year-old bowler had an impressive 30-run innings off 76 deliveries including four 4s but he failed to shine with the ball by managing only one wicket including both the innings. Negi has so far participated in 3 first-class matches and scored 58 runs and with the ball, he has claimed 4 wickets in 3 matches.

By that time Pawan Negi has earned the fame of 'pinch hitter' in the shortest format and as a reward, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for 8.50 crores in the auction for the Indian Premier League ahead of Yuvraj Singh. It was the most expensive uncapped buy in the history of IPL. In the meantime, Negi had also recorded another achievement by being the best bowler in a Champions League T20 match with 5 wickets for only 22 runs. Negi, in his eight-year stint in the IPL, has amassed 365 runs in 50 matches at a strike rate of 126.29 and as a bowler, Negi has scalped 34 wickets in as many matches including his best figure of 4 wickets for 18 runs. The all-rounder however has played in 119 T20 matches in the domestic circuit and claimed 96 wickets and scored 803 runs at a strike rate of 122.22. His best bowling figure has been 5 for 22.
T20 Career
Pawan Negi has proved himself more useful in the limited over and shortest format of the game than in four-day cricket. In his maiden List 'A' match against Assam, Negi made an impressive bowling figure of 5 overs 12 runs 2 wickets. In the domestic limited over and Twenty20 cricket Negi drew the attention of the national selectors in the 2015-16 season. As its reflection, Negi was also selected as India's fourth spinner for the T20 World Cup. Negi has claimed 61 wickets in 49 List ‘A’ cricket while scored 607 runs with an average of 27.59 including his best score of unbeaten 124. Negi had played in one Twenty20 International against the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka in 2016. The bowler was able to manage one wicket although he was not expensive, giving away 16 runs in 3 overs.
