Early signs

Pavan Deshpande made his debut in first-class cricket in Ranji Trophy against Maharastra in 2016. Karnataka won the match by 10 wickets and Pavan drew attention in his maiden first-class tie, scoring 70 off 139 deliveries in the first innings and picked up one wicket in 2 overs giving away 10 runs. However, he has participated in 8 first-class matches and scored 255 runs, and scalped 14 wickets. Pavan Deshpande had begun his career in the List ‘A’ game in the nest year in 2017 in Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jharkhand. In the 50-over game, Pavan scored 36 off 34 balls, hitting 4 fours and a six. He did not get the opportunity to bowl. He has amassed 777 runs in 23 List ‘A’ matches including 7 fifties where his best score has been 95.

Pavan Deshpande was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018 for the first time and then again Bangalore-based franchise bought him ahead of 2020 IPL at a base price of Rs 20 Lakh. But he did get the opportunity to get into the playing eleven either in 2018 or last year.

T20 Career

The left-handed batsman was first drafted in a domestic Twenty20 match in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Kerala in 2015. Pavan however justified his selection in his debut, displaying 29 runs off 27 deliveries hitting 4 fours. Karnataka won the match by 5 wickets. He showed his best form in the 2018 season of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and his noticeable performance helped him to join Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018. In 2019, Pavan Deshpande also emerged as the most expensive purchase in Karnataka Premier League. Pavan Deshpande has participated in 23 T20 matches so far and scored 463 runs including 3 fifties at an average of 38.58 where his best score has been 63.
