Early signs

Shreyas Gopal had Karnataka at various age-level tournaments like under-13, under-15, under-16, under-17, and under-19. He also participated in three One-Day International matches for under-19 India. Shreyas made his debut in first-class cricket for Karnataka in 2013. He captured 22 wickets at an average of 18.22 in his maiden Ranji Trophy competition. In the very next year in 2014, Shreyas came on the headline of the media, picking up his first hat-trick in Irani Cup against the Rest of India. His brilliant show helped Karnataka win Irani Cup. Shreyas also became the third-highest scorer with 524 runs and the second-highest wicket-taker with 32 wickets during the 2018-19 domestic cricket season. Shreyas has played in 64 first-class matches and scored 2674 runs at an average of 34.28 with his highest score of unbeaten 150 while picked up 191 wickets including his best bowling figure of 9 for 108 in a match. Shreyas made his debut in List ‘A’ game in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in 2014 against Andhra at Secunderabad. In his opening List 'A' match, Gopal did not get the opportunity to bat and remained wicket-less in 7 overs, giving away 49 runs. However, having played in 40 List ‘A’ matches he has scored 400 runs and bagged 64 wickets so far.

IPL career

Starting in Mumbai Indians in 2014, Shreyas spent there for four years. Then he was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction. The Karnataka spinner had a memorable show in the very next year in 2019 when he made his first hat-trick in the 2019 IPL, deceiving Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Marcus Stoinis. During his seven-year stint in the IPL so far, Gopal has scalped 48 wickets in 45 matches at an economy rate of 7.85 including his best figure of 4 for 16, and with the bat he has scored 164 runs.

T20 Career

Shreyas Gopal had started participating in the Twenty20 match in the domestic circuit in 2014. He was roped in by Mumbai Indians on the day after his inimitable hat-trick in the Irani Cup against the Rest of India. Gopal has so far participated in 79 T20 matches and scored 373 runs with his best of unbeaten 47 and with the ball he has picked up 91 wickets an economy rate of 7.40 including his best figure of 5 for 11.
