Imam Ul Haq overview

Imam-ul-Haq was born on 12th December 1995 in Lahore, Punjab Pakistan. He is an International cricketer who plays in all three formats for Pakistan. Imam is the nephew of former Pakistani cricket star Inzamam-ul-Haq who has also served as the national team’s captain. The family originally hails from Multan and had migrated to Pakistan from the city of Hansi, which is now the present-day Indian state of Haryana.

From a very early age, he had the pressure to perform, being the nephew of a former cricketer who did not let the pressure get to him and kept performing to rise through the ranks to become a part of the national team. He burst into the scene during the Under-19 Asia cup 2012 and made his debut against India when he hit a staggering 88. Imam also pulled off 3 consecutive fifties and averaged 45 from just 5 games. Imam was just 16 years old at that time. In an Under-19 Tri-series tournament in England where he hit 237 runs in 6 innings.

Imam played in the final of the 2016-17 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and scored a massive 200 not out batting for Habib Bank Limited. He also scored an unbeaten 59 in the final of National T20 cup 2017-18 for Lahore Blues and was then adjudged the ‘Man of the Match’.

Early signs

Imam was named in Pakistan's One Day International ODI squad for their series against Sri Lanka in October 2017. He made his ODI debut for Pakistan against Sri Lanka on 18 October 2017, scored a maiden ODI hundred and was also named man of the match. He became the second Pakistani batsman after Saleem Elahi to score an ODI hundred on debut.

ODI Career

Imam made his ODI debut for Pakistan against Sri Lanka at Sheikh Zayed stadium on 18 October 2017, where he scored his maiden century and was also named the Man of the Match. He became the second Pakistani batsman after Saleem Elahi to score an ODI hundred on debut. He has scored 1723 from 37 matches so far at an average of 53.84. His highest score in the 50-over format is 151 and he has 7 hundred and 6 fifties under his belt.

Test career

Imam made his Test debut for Pakistan, against Ireland, on 11 May 2018 where he scored a half-century in the final innings of the match which turned out to be an important addition to the team’s win. Imam has played in 11 test matches so far and has scored 485 runs at an average of 25.53 with 3 half-centuries under his belt.

T20 Career

Imam made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for Pakistan against England at Sophia Gardens on 5 May 2019. He has played only two matches till date and has a strike rate of 84. He is yet to make his mark in the shortest format of the game.

ICC Trophies

Imam showed signs of excellence at a very early age, scoring successive half centuries in the Under-19 league at the age of 16 which goes on to show how much potential the youngster holds.
