Sean Abbott overview

Sean Anthony Abbott is an Australian cricketer, born on 29th February 1992, who plays as a right-handed all-rounder. Abbott made his List A debut for New South Wales against Western Australia on 17 October 2010 in the 2010–11 Ryobi One-Day Cup. In 2011, he made his first-class debut for South Australia at Adelaide oval. Abbott has been a part of in the Sydney Grade Cricket competition for the Parramatta and Sydney University.

One of the bigger highlights of his career came in the 2017–18 JLT One-Day Cup, when he played for New South Wales and took 12 wickets, the most of any player in the team.

Early signs

In October 2014, Abbott was added to Australia's One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 international squads for their series against Pakistan. He made his T20I debut on 05 October 2014, against Pakistan and just after two days he made his ODI debut against the same team. In July 2019, he was picked in Australia's squad for the 2019 Ashes series in England. On 16 July 2020, Abbott was named in a 26-man preliminary squad of players to begin training ahead of a possible tour to England following the COVID-19 pandemic. And on 14th July 2020, his name was confirmed in the tour. In November 2020, he was named in Australia's Test squad for their series against India.

ODI Career

Abbott made his debut against Pakistan at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on 7th October 2014. Since his debut, he has played in just one ODI match from which he has just 1 wicket at an economy rate of 5.0.

Test career

IPL career

Abbott was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the IPL 2015, where he made his debut against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. Similar to his ODI career his IPL career was also very short. He has played only 2 matches without having a single wicket in his pocket.

T20 Career

The right-arm medium bowler has played in just four T20 international matches so far and has 3 wickets to his name at an economy rate of 6.1. His best figures in a match stands at 2/14. He made his debut against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 5th Oct 2014.

He still can do much more for his country in International cricket he just needs to play a lot more matches to make a name for himself. This guy can go on to turn the game around, so watch out for him.
