Sam Billings is a cricketer from England. He is a wicket-keeper batsman. He was born on 15th June at Pembury, Kent. He started playing cricket when he was only eight years old. But in his early days' Billings could not be pointed out as only the cricketer.

He used to play tennis for Kent regularly and he also was a promising footballer. After having scored a hat-trick for Corinthians under-14 side in a tournament organized by Tottenham Hotspur Football Academy, Sam Billings was offered a trial by Tottenham Hotspur.

Simultaneously Sam Billings, along with playing tennis, had seriously played squash and rugby also. His grandfather Ron Billings was a professional tennis player and his brother Tom Billings is also a world-ranked tennis player. Sam Billings later disclosed that playing tennis had helped him to develop his batting, especially considering the hand-eye coordination. Sam Billings who is regarded as one of the versatile cricketers in English cricket acquired a degree in sport and exercise science at Loughborough University. Sam Billings is associated with different charitable organizations and regularly contributing to disabled cricketers in England.

Early signs

Sam Billings made his debut in first-class cricket for Loughborough University in 2011 against Northamptonshire and scored only 20 runs in the first innings. But in the second innings, he struck a splendid 131 runs off 234 deliveries to draw attention. Billings scored 321 runs in the four first-class matches at an average of 45.85. Then he started representing Kent, playing for the county for consecutive eight years. In 2014 Billings became the first-choice wicket-keeper of Kent and set a record in 2016 by making seven catches in an innings. He was the second wicket-keeper in Kent’s cricket history to have made the record. Sam Billings has participated in 70 first-class matches and scored 3178 runs at an average of 34.54 including six centuries. In the List ‘A’ game, Billings has gathered 3023 runs from his 97 matches at an average of 42.57 including seven centuries.

ODI Career

Sam Billings made his debut in One-Day International in 2015 against New Zealand in the 1st ODI at Birmingham but got out for only 3 runs. He has played in 21 ODIs and amassed 586 runs at an average of 36.62 including one century and four fifties.
