Early signs

Joseph’s journey began in his backyard when in his childhood he used to spend most of the time bowling to his father Alva. Soon after some months, Joseph got the opportunity to play for his father's club. He showed potential at that very early age and ensured a place in the age-group teams for Antigua and Leeward Islands soon. Then being graduated to make his debut in first-class cricket for the Leeward Islands in 2014 November Alzarri Joseph hogged the limelight in his maiden first-class match against Guyana by scalping 5 for 99. He continued with the glimpse of his fiery pace and accuracy and made another inspiring 7 wicket-haul for 47 runs against the Windward Islands in November 2015. Joseph could hone his bowling skill during that phase as he was being coached by former West Indies fast bowler Winston Benjamin. The reflection was seen in the under-19 World Cup in 2016. Joseph placed himself within the top five bowlers in the under-19 World Cup to have bagged 13 wickets from his six matches at an average of 13.76 and an economy rate of 3.31. Alzarri Joseph will also be remembered in the Bangladesh under-19 World Cup in 2016 for his another notable accomplishment that he recorded the fastest delivery in the tournament at 143 kilometers per hour that broke Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Sly’s stumps! Joseph’s best performance in the World Cup was also against Zimbabwe. He figured 4 wickets for 30 runs in the match.

Alzarri Joseph began his career in One-Day International (ODI) at Sharjah against Pakistan on 2nd October 2016. Test career

Alzarri Joseph made his Test debut in 2016 August against India at Gros Islet. In his first appearance in Test Alzarri Joseph marked his establishment, dismissing three prize wickets in the first innings, that of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Wridhiman Saha. He claimed 3 wickets for 69 runs in 24 overs while in the second innings Joseph was wicket-less from his four overs giving away 23 runs. Joseph showed integrity towards the game and to his country as despite having heard of his mother's death after the completion of the second day's game in the 2nd Test against England last year Joseph did not return and continued to play. He received a lot of applause from the cricket world after this incident. Alzarri Joseph has participated in 13 Tests and earned 32 wickets at an economy rate of 3.33 including his best figure of 3 wickets for 53.
