Tim Seifert overview

His full name is Tim Louis Seifert. He is a cricketer from New Zealand. He is a wicket-keeper and right-hand batsman. He was born on 14th December 1994 in Wanganui.

Interestingly, Tim Seifert was equally talented in hockey. Since his childhood, Seifert used to regularly play hockey and cricket, especially alongside the experienced and senior players. Seifert used to represent Fraser-Tech senior men’s hockey team even at the age of 15-year old. He used to play in the striking position and had proved his excellence by scoring 25 goals in 14 matches in a season in 2010. His excellent performance lured premier hockey team Midlands even for its senior side. However, Seifert had donned Midlands shirts in the under-18 hockey competition and then in the under-21 competition. Seifert, in his journey with hockey, has participated in 75 matches at all ages and struck 99 goals. Simultaneously, the 26-year old wicket-keeper batsman was equally eye-catching in cricket also. While studying at Southwell School Seifert had scored 2268 runs at an average of 47 and claimed 100 dismissals behind the stumps. Then while studying at St. Peter’s School Seifert had a magnificent unbeaten 142 off only 87 deliveries.

However, Seifert, having paid all attributes to his father Marty for his continuous inspiration, had revealed that he would likely to set his focus on cricket as in terms of securing financial strength the game is much ahead of hockey and finally that happened in reality. Seifert's mother also, along with his father had played netball seriously and his sister is a professional golfer. Seifert, in a recent media chat, had also paid credit to hockey for his ability to exhibit such thunderous batting on the crease. He explained that hitting reverse-hits and switch-hits had helped him a lot to make the hand-eye coordination, as well as the bat-swing, get together in cricket. He disclosed that he had played little golf that too had helped to deliver his best in cricket. Tim Seifert set his focus on cricket and he was signed by the Northern District cricket team in 2014 at a time when he was only 14 years old, the youngest member of the team. His boyish look and hitting style as it can be said 'Bam-Bam with the stick' inspired Seifert's teammates especially Cory Anderson and Daryl Mitchell gave him the nickname 'The Flintstones'! He is a follower of former renowned Kiwi batsman and later coach Brendon McCullum. He also stated that he always watches Brendon minutely, often tries to learn and apply his fearless batting on the crease.
