Early signs
George Linde was a left-arm quick bowler during his school days. But after being selected in the under-13 school team of Western Province Linde changed his mind and switched to spin bowling and never looked back. Even Linde had shown potential in batting in his school days. But one of his school coaches advised him to set focus more on spin bowling. Later Linde also realized that his hard work to develop spin bowling only has taken him to the international level finally. Linde made his debut in First-class cricket in 2012 for Western Province against Gauteng in the Three-Day Provincial Challenge Cup. But he was able to capture only one wicket in the first innings and 2 wickets in the second innings. Even having begun his ‘List A’ cricket journey in the same year Linde was not at all impressive. His rise was noticed in 2018 as Linde placed himself at the sixth spot in the domestic cricket that year with 15 scalps. Then, having represented Cape Town Blitz the spinner drew attention by capturing five wickets in as many matches. Linde has played in 54 First-class matches and claimed 198 wickets including his best bowling of 7 wickets for 64 runs in a match. In the ‘List A’ cricket also, Linde has claimed 86 wickets from 62 matches so far.
