Dom Bess overview
Dom Bess is an English cricketer. He is a right-arm off-break bowler and a right-hand bat. He was born in Devon on 22nd July 1997. At the age of 16, Bess joined Somerset academy. Then he also had spent formidable time at Darren Lehmann's academy at Adelaide in 2015 to learn the game. In his youth he was a serious rugby player, playing in the fly-half position.
Dom Bess always gives credit to the former fitness coach of Somerset Darren Veness as the biggest influence on the development of his strength and conditioning. While explaining about his keenness on off-spin bowling Bess had commented that being a little porker at his young age he never liked long run-up. Rather he liked to move five to six steps and used to trot in.

Early signs
Dom Bess made his debut in a first-class game for Somerset against Pakistan in 2016. Pakistan had toured England that year. But Bess was a complete failure in his maiden appearance, ending his bowling figure in the match with no wicket against 128 runs including both the innings. But life changed in the same year, especially in the county championship. In his memorable match against Warwickshire at Taunton on a turning track, 21 wickets fell and Bess saw the spectators were cheering towards him as he had made a stunning figure of 6 wickets for only 21 runs including two back-to-back wickets of former England test players Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott. Bess continued his magical performance with the ball capturing the second five-wicket-haul against Nottinghamshire to finish the season with 13 wickets. Even in the next season in 2017, Bess captured 36 wickets for Somerset in division one of the county championship. The 23-year old off-spinner has left Somerset last year and signed a contract with Yorkshire for four years. The of-spinner has claimed 141 wickets in 49 matches at an economy rate of 2.98 including his best figure of 10 wickets for 162 runs in a match. He also has scored 1411 runs in first-class cricket including his highest score of 107. He has claimed 11 wickets in 15 List ‘A’ matches so far. Bess had also represented England under-19, representing England Lions against West Indies, and made a memorable show with 5 wickets for 88 runs in Antigua on his debut for England Lions.
