Early signs
Dom Sibley made his debut in first-class cricket for Surrey in the First Division County Championship match against Somerset but failed to draw attention, being out for 10 in the first innings and 12 in the second innings. But none could guess that Sibley would burst in his third first-class match. He was still a school student at Whitgift School at that time. Sibley struck a double century against Yorkshire at the age of 18 years to become the youngest double-centurion in the history of the County Championship. Sibley batted for full four days in the four-day match, being out for 242 by Ryan Sidebottom. In August 2017, Sibley joined Warwickshire, refusing Surrey's proposal offer for a three-year contract. Sibley continued showing potential in the County Championship, being the only man to have scored 100 runs in the first division County championship. He scored 1324 with five centuries and five half-centuries, recording an impressive average of 69.68. Sibley has scored 5078 runs in 82 first-class matches at an average of 40.62 including 15 centuries and 23 fifties where his top score has been 244.
