Marnus Labuschagne overview
Marnus Labuschagne was born on 22nd June 1994 in the North West Province, South Africa. He represents the Australian cricket team in Tests and ODIs. At the age of 10, Marnus moved from his hometown in South Africa to Australia with his family. He joined the Australian Institute of Sport which eventually shaped him to play for the Queensland Team in age group cricket. He has represented the side at the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 levels as an all-rounder. He has played in 76 first-class matches till date, scoring 5,524 runs at an average of 43.15. He has 13 hundred and 32 fifties under his belt at the first-class level.
In August 2019, Marnus became the first cricketer to become a concussion substitute in a Test match, replacing Steve Smith. Marnus was also the leading run-scorer in Test matches for Australia in 2019. He rose to 4th place in the ICC Player Rankings during the year, a huge jump from 106 places.
In January 2020, Marnus was named as the Emerging Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council, in February as Australia's Test player of the year and in April he was one of the five Cricketers of the Year in the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.

Early signs
Marnus got a contract from the senior team in first-class cricket in the 2014-15 season of the Sheffield shield where he straightaway impressed with a debut knock of 83 at a crucial point in the match. His impressive stint in the List A matches continued as he went on to score 1,478 runs in 40 matches with 2 hundred and 13 fifties. He also won the Player of the Tournament in the year 2016/17 Matador One day cup.
ODI Career
Marnus made his ODI debut at the Wankhede stadium on 14th January 2020. He has played in 12 One-day internationals so far and has scored 466 runs at an average of 42.36 and a strike rate of 92.09. The Australian has 1 hundred and 3 fifties under his belt.
Test career
Marnus made his test debut against Pakistan on 7th October 2018 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan went on score a mammoth total of 482 in the first innings and 462 in the second innings. Marnus picked his maiden wicket in the first innings as Australia could only reach a total of 202 in the first innings. Australia somehow managed to draw the match, as Marnus took another wicket and was involved in a crucial catch. He scored 13 runs in the match. He has 12 wickets and 1459 runs under his belt in Test cricket. The youngster has hit 1 double hundred, 4 hundreds and 8 fifties in the longest format.
