George Munsey overview

Henry George Munsey was born on 21st February 1993 in Oxford, England. He is a Scottish cricketer who represents the Scotland National team in T20 and One Day Internationals. Munsey made his debut against Ireland on 18th June 2015 and two years later 22nd January 2017 he made his ODI debut against Hong Kong.

Munsey scored 147 runs in 39 balls in an Unofficial T20 match against Bath, playing for the Gloucestershire 2nd XI. He got to his fifty in just 17 balls and his century cam in just 25 balls, during this innings he also hit six sixes in an over helping his team to reach a massive total of 326/3 in 20 overs. In June 2019, Munsey was picked in the Scotland A squad against the Ireland Wolves in their tour to Ireland. After this stint, he was picked to play for the Brampton Wolves franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament.

Munsey was named in the national squad to play in the Ireland Tri-series 2019-20 and for the 2019 ICC T20 World cup Qualifiers in the UAE. The International Cricket Council named him as the player to watch in Scotland's squad just ahead of the T20 qualifier tournament. Munsey finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer for Scotland with 234 runs in eight matches. Munsey scored 127* against Netherlands in the second match of the Tri-series, it was the second-fastest century in T20 Internationals, in just 41 balls. While chasing his first century, Munsey along with Kyle Coetzer made an opening partnership of 200 runs, this was the highest partnership for any wicket for Scotland and the third-highest overall in the shortest format. Scotland posted their highest T20I total of 252/3.

Early signs

Munsey made his first-class debut for Northamptonshire against the Australians on 15 August 2015.

ODI Career

Munsey made his ODI debut against Hong Kong at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on 22nd Jan 2017. In the 25 matches he has played so far, he has scored 562 runs with an average of 25.55 and a strike rate of 76.78. He has smashed 62 fours and 13 sixes in his career and his highest score in One Day Internationals is 61. He last played against the United Arab Emirates On 15th December at ICC Academy.

T20 Career

Munsey made his T20 debut against Ireland at Bready Cricket Club on 18th June 2015. Till date he has played in 37 matches for Scotland and has scored 987 runs and has 1 hundred and 5 fifties to his name. He has a very impressive strike rate 154.22 and his highest score is 127 runs. In the 37 matches he has played; Munsey has smashed 114 fours and 45 sixes.
