It will be an exciting battle between the 6th and 7th ranked teams in Test. South African cricket squad is scheduled to take part in a two-Test match and five-Twenty20 International matches in June and July this year. The series was actually scheduled to be held in July 2020, supposed to be a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021. But it was deferred and finally rescheduled following the Covid-19 pandemic. The fixture of the tour was confirmed by Cricket West Indies in the last month of this year.

South Africa, under the captaincy of Dean Elgar, will play both the Tests at Daren Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia from 10th to 14th June and from 18th to 22nd June, respectively. All the five Twenty20 Internationals will be played at National Cricket Stadium in Grenada. The first T20I will commence on 26th June while the 5th T20I will end on 3rd July. The remaining three T20Is are scheduled to be staged on 27th June, 29th June, and on 1st July. South Africa’s new captain Dean Elger has stated that they are desperate to win the Test and T20I series to revive from the 7th Test rank they are placed now after having lost five Tests out of eight they had played in 2019-20. On the contrary, under the leadership of Kieron Pollard, West Indies have been busy in full training. The team looks mentally boosted after one of their players Marquino Mindley tested negative for Covid-19 last week. West Indies is presently on the 6th spot in ICC Test ranking.
