On This day in 2018: Virat Kohli’s Record against South Africa

Virat Kohli, the legendary cricket player from India. He held several records in this game at both the national and international formats of cricket. But this famous and incredible batsman went above and beyond to set a record in 2018, which is almost five years ago. The record was made in a one day international series against the South African team in the opposition team’s home town itself. 



He set a record of making the milestone of around 558 runs in the six one day internationals. He was playing with an average batting rate of around 186, which seems to be a very astonishing number. Virat Kohli had scored this huge number of runs while batting with a strike rate of 99.46. He had shown his some of the best skills on the ground against the team. 



Virat Kohli’s record of making 558 runs today is 16th of February but five years from today in 2018 is still at the top in the list. He is today also considered as the hero of that one day international series. He is really a great player and a very good batsman. 



With the victory of the Indian team in this one day international match which was against South Africa, the captain of the team, Virat Kohli became the first ever captain from India who had won a bilateral one day international series against South African team and that too in their nation only. 



After that in another ODI, Virat Kohli first made a score of 112 runs in the first one day international which was followed by his making a score of forty six runs in the second match. He continued this by making a huge score of around 160 runs in the third one day international match against the team.



On the fourth day of this one day international he made a score of 75 runs but then ended up on the fifth day of one day international by making a score of 36 runs against the South African team. On the final and last, sixth day of the one day international series he scored a huge mountain of 129 runs against the team. 



Virat Kohli is a right handed batsman from India. He is the former captain of the national team and he also plays for RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) in the IPL (Indian Premier League). He is also recognized by the name Cheeku. He was part of the Indian cricket team when the team won the World Cup in 2011. 



He made his one day international debut on 18th August 2008 which was played against Sri Lanka and recently he played his last one day international which was played by him on 24 January in 2023 which was against New Zealand. He is being regarded as the top batsman who is coming from India. He is an ideal batsman for many of the youngsters in India and all over the world.
