DC vs SRH Match Highlights IPL 2021

Delhi Capitals earn a dramatic 1-run victory in Super Over

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai saw an exciting end of the 20th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. Still, Hyderabad could not stop its losing streak, as DC snatched a dramatic victory by one run in the Super Over after J. Suchith, scoring a 6-ball 14 including a huge six took Hyderabad to the Super Over where they tied with DC, finishing the regulation 20 overs at 159. After David Warner got out for 6 and Jonny Bairstow recovered Hyderabad from another miserable show, it was Kane Williamson who was taking the team towards the target although he did not get support from his middle-order batsmen. Williamson remained unbeaten 66 off 51 deliveries, hitting 8 fours. Abvesh Khan was the most successful bowler of DC, scalping 3 wickets for 34 runs in his 4 overs.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals, winning the toss, elected to bat first. DC captain Rishabh Pant might have thought that the percentage of dew will reduce later in the night. So, with the hope, the captain not only did not choose to bat but also brought in Axar Patel in the playing even on the day. Axar Patel, who has been sidelined since the beginning of the competition after testing Covid-19 positive, has recently been linked with the squad and he stated getting out of the quarantine has been the best moment of his life so far. Hyderabad also made one change as Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been replaced by J. Suchith.

However, Suchith in his debut in the League this season did not frustrate his bosses on the day. Despite being wicket-less, Suchith gave away only 21 runs in his 4 overs at an economy rate of 5.20 to become the most economical of Hyderabad against DC which scored 159 in 20 overs losing only four wickets. Shikhar Dhawan however failed to main his superb form he showed in the team's previous match but scored a 26-ball 28 to lay a decent foundation of DC innings. The foundation became strong as another opener Prithvi Shaw, shrugging out of his lean patches in the team’s previous matches, scored an impressive 39-ball 53, hitting 7 fours and one six. After the opening partnership broke at 81, the captain Rishabh Pant and Steve Smith also carried the innings to a challenging feat for the opposition. Pant scored 37 off 27 deliveries while Steve Smith remained unbeaten 34 off 25 balls at a strike rate of 136, hitting 3 fours and a six in the power-play session.

Hyderabad on the contrary should thank Siddharth Kaul for having picked up 2 wickets at the cost of 31 runs in his 4 overs while Rashid Khan, the wily spinner who was expected to create the threat to DC batsmen, managed only one wicket at the cost of 31 runs in his 4 overs.
