Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians Match Highlights

Delhi beat Mumbai, Dhawan maintains consistency

Shikhar Dhawan once again played an instrumental role in guiding Delhi Capitals to acquire a 6-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians in the 13th match of the ongoing IPL at Chidambaram Stadium Chennai on Tuesday. After Prithvi Shaw returned to the pavilion, scoring only 7 runs, putting Delhi in early trouble for 1 for 11 in the very second over, it was Dhawan who anchored the Delhi innings with another excellent 45 off 42 deliveries hitting 5 fours and 1 six. Steven Smith also accompanied Dhawan with a useful 33 off 29 deliveries. Despite the fact Rishabh Pant could not be able to score on the day, being out for 7 only, Lalit Yadav (22 off 25 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (14 off 9 balls) steered Delhi to the victory finally.

In reply to Mumbai Indian' 137 for the loss of 9 wickets, Delhi finished with 138 for the 4 wickets with five balls remaining. For Mumbai, Jayant Yadav, Jaspreet Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, and Rahul Chahar managed one wicket each.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians, winning the toss, elected to bat first. But experienced leg-spinner Amit Misra’s accurate bowling restricted the five-time IPL champion from setting a formidable score for the opposition team. They finished at 137, losing 9 wickets in 20 overs. Amit Misra had an impressive figure of 4 for 24 runs in overs at an economy rate of 6. Misra took the vital wickets of Mumbai Indians, dismissing Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and hard-hitting Kieron Pollard.

Mumbai received a blow, losing Quinton De Kock’s wicket for only 9 runs. Rohit Sharma was looking steady before being caught by Smith off Misra’s bowling for 44 off 30 deliveries. Surya Kumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan also tried to settle down but were not able to carry forward the innings to the required firmness. Yadav scored 15-ball 24 while Ishan Kishan took 28 balls to score 26 runs that slowed down the run rate. In the middle-order also, except Jayant Yadav (23 off 22 balls) none of the batsmen could deliver up to expectation.

Along with Amit Misra, Avesh Khan also produced a promising show, obtaining 2 wickets at the cost of 15 runs in 2 overs.
