MI vs RR Match Highlights IPL 2021

Quinton de Kock and Pollard guide MI to a 7-wicket victory over RR

Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the 24th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday in New Delhi. In reply to RR’s 171 for 4 Mumbai Indians scored 172 having lost 3 wickets. Quinton De Kock anchored the MI innings being unbeaten 70 off 50 deliveries. Krunal Pandya also played fruitful innings of 26-ball 39. Still, Kieron Pollard’s unbeaten 8-ball 16 drove MI to cross the target with 9 balls remaining. Chris Morris, the most expensive cricketer of this IPL however did not have a good day as he gave away 33 runs in 4 overs to manage 2 wickets.

Mumbai Indians (MI) won the toss and asked Rajasthan Royals (RR) to bat first. The five-time defending champion made one change in the team, bringing Nathan Coulter-Nile in the playing eleven while RR did not make any change. But even having brought Nathan Coulter-Nile Mumbai Indians did not seem to get much benefit as Rajasthan comfortably scored 171 having lost only 4 wickets in 20 overs.

Jos Buttler whose form in the team's previous match was keeping MI management in a little bit of anxiety, opened the innings in style, scoring 41 off 32 balls at a strike rate of 128.12, hitting 3 sixes and 3 fours. Yashasvi Jaiswal also gave perfect assistance to his opening partner, scoring a quick 20-ball 32 at an inspiring strike rate of 160.  The captain Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube also in the middle-overs carried the innings to a formidable score. Sanju scored 27-ball 42 hitting 5 fours while Dube was quite slow, scoring 35 off 31 deliveries. Coulter-Nile bowled 4 overs and gave away 35 runs without any wicket. However, Rahul Chahar was the most successful bowler of Mumbai as he bagged 2 wickets giving away 33 runs. Tren Boult and Jasprit Bumrah also managed to get one wicket each but Bumrah maintained an amazing economy rate of 3.75, giving away only 15 runs in his scheduled 4 overs.
