The history of the game of cricket has been greatly influenced by batters and bowlers. So let’s have a brief discussion about some of the greatest bowlers in ODIs history.

 

1. Joel Garner

The topmost bowler from the West Indies has a career span in ODI of 1977-89. The total number of ODI wickets he has taken is 146. The bowling average in the ODI of this bowler is 18.84.


His career rating reached a great height in 1985, the same year when cricket’s greatest fast bowling display was taking place, along with both Holding and Marshall.


2. Sir Richard Had lee

The next bowler is from New Zealand. The career span of this bowler in ODI is from 1973-90. The total number of wickets he took is 158, which is not a low score. The bowling average in the one-day international is 21.56.


Sir Richard is undoubtedly the finest bowler ever represented by New Zealand. This bowler has superb control and great precision in his bowling. He is a very confident, skilled, and cunning bowler. He is the only bowler of all time to have taken close to 400 wickets in tests.


3. Shaun Pollock

Another dazzling player from South Africa, who has a career span of 1996 to 2008. He has taken 393 wickets in the fifty over format i.e. ODIs. The bowling average of the player is 24.50. He is a world-class performer, who has faced many achievements.


Pollock is a very impressive fast bowler. He is a right-armed bowler who has a great line of order and length is very fine. He is a very capable player; almost every new bowler should learn his techniques.


4. Muttiah Muralitharan

A great player from Sri Lanka. He has a career span from 1993 to 2011 in the fifty overs format. He is from the list of most controversial bowlers. He has taken 534 wickets in the fifty-over format that we call an ODI.


He has very great control over the spin, which was very difficult for a batsman to play at that moment. He is no doubt a great player and a great inspiration for many bowlers.

 

5. Glenn McGrath

Lastly, another player is from Australia. He has a career span from 1993 to 2007 and has taken 381 wickets in one-day internationals. He is from the list of fastest bowlers around the globe.


His ratings were at their peak in the year 2002 as the world has seen some of the finest over’s thrown by him in most of his matches of those times. He took around 26 wickets in the World Cup which was held in 2007 and was also honoured as the Man of the Series.
