Badminton is a very common sport played in every corner of the World every day by most people. This is a sport between 2 players or 4 players. This game includes rackets with each player and a shuttlecock. This sport came into existence at the Olympics in 1992.


It is played both indoors and outdoors but if we want to do a healthy game plan it should be played indoors as no air should affect the direction of the shuttlecock.

 

Let's quickly review some of the greatest male badminton players in history.

 

1.  Lin Dan

Lin is a professional player from China. He was born in the month of October in 1983. He has been also recognized by the name Super Dan. He has achieved gold two times in the Olympic Games. He has been honoured by the World Championships and All-England Championships both five times.

 

In the singles competition, he is regarded as one of the best badminton players ever. He accomplished the "Super Grand Slam" when he was 28. In 2008, he was honoured as the BWF Best Male Player.

 

2.  Taufik Hidayat

The next badminton player is from Indonesia, now he is retired from all formats of badminton. He was born in August 1981. He was considered to have the biggest rivalry with Lin Dan. From 1999 till the year 2006, he has been honored with the Indonesian Open around six times.

 

He took home gold at the Asian Games in 2002 and 2006 respectively. He has been trained at the SGS club in Bandung by a very great trainer named Lie Sumirat.

 

3.  Lee Chong Wei

Third, on the list is Lee Chong, who is from Malaysia. He was born in the month of October in 1982 in Bagan Serai. In 2008 and 2012 he won silver medals in the Olympic Games. He has become the first badminton player from Malaysia who stretched pot till the finals at the Olympiad. 

Lee Chong Wei was expressed as a national hero by Najib Tun Razak who was the Prime Minister of Malaysia and recognized by the title Dato as he has done a lot for the sports field of Malaysia.

 

4.  Tony Gunawan

The next badminton player is Tony Gunawan, a dynamic player. He was born in Indonesia in the month of April 1975. He has participated in many of the championships at the national and international level for Indonesia till 2001 and after 2001 for the United States till the present.


He is considered to be on the list of topmost players in the doubles format of badminton. In Indonesia, he has received numerous accolades from around the world.

 

  1. Rudy Hartono Kurniawan

The last player is also from Indonesia. August 1949 is marked as the month of his birth. He is a record holder for winning in All England Championships in the men’s singles titles 7 times following from the year 1968-74.

 

He won a gold medal in 1980 at the very prestigious platform, the World Championships in the men’s singles. Currently, he is also an important part of the PSBI Board of Honor.
