Top Women Volleyball Players

Volleyball is still not a famous sport as compared to cricket or football. This sport contains two teams with six players who have to play against each other. Every player on the team is eager to earn a point against the opponent team.

 

Net is placed between the two teams. Some rules and boundaries are set for both teams so that every team gets a fair chance of winning. This sport was earlier played by only men but if we see today we will find many women players interested in playing this sport.

 

We should know about some of the amazing women volleyball players, let’s read ahead.

 

1.    Yeon-Koung Kim

The first player on the list is Yeon-Koung, a women professional volleyball player from South Korea. She was born on the 26th of February 1988. She is an outside hitter and captain of the national team in South Korea.


In 2014, she achieved gold at the Asian Games which was held in Incheon. In 2019 she won a bronze medal at the Asian Championship which was held in Seoul.

 

2.    Yekaterina Gamova

The second player on the list is Yekaterina; she is now retired from the game. She was born on the 17th of October in 1980. She is from Russia and was an important part of the national team in Russia.

 

She was part of the team when the team won gold at the FIVB Volleyball World Championship of Women’s in the years 2006 and 2010. In the years 2000 and 2004, the team won silver medals at the Olympic Games.

 

3.    Ting Zhu

Third on the list is Ting Zhu, a professional volleyball player from China. She was born on the 29th of November in 1994. She achieved two golds at the World Cup, which was held in Japan in 2015 and 2019.


From 2016 till the year 2019, she was a key part of the Vakifbank Istanbul. Currently, she is a player at the Savino Del Bene Scandicci which is a club in Italy. She achieved gold at the Olympic Games which was held in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. 

 

4.    Hélia Souza 

The next player on the list is Helia Souza, a professional player from Brazil. She was born on the 10th of March in 1970. She is now retired from the game. She represented her nation around five times at the Olympic Games.

 

In 2008 she achieved gold and twice bronze in 1996 and 2000 respectively. She also won a gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1999.

 

5.    Brenda Castillo

The last player on the list is Brenda Castillo, a professional player from the Dominican Republic. She was born on the 5th of June 1992. She was part of the national team of the Dominican Republic.

 

In 2012, at the Olympic Games, her national team also grabbed the fifth position. She achieved gold at the Pan American Games in 2019 which was held in Lima. Last year in 2022 she also won a gold medal at the Pan American Cup which was held in Hermosillo.
