Earlier, AB de Villers shared the record of hitting the most number of sixes in the World Cup alongside Chris Gayle, both of them holding the record having hit 37 sixes each. At present, Chris Gayle has surpassed de Villers by taking his record to 49 sixes and is now the sole holder of the record.

The legend Glenn McGrath holds this record of being the only bowler to bowl the most maidens in a Cricket World Cup edition twice. He did it in 1996 and 2003 World Cups when he bowled 10 and 18 maidens, respectively.

Lasith Malinga holds the Most Hat Tricks in World Cup, he has taken 3 hat-tricks to date and shares the record with his teammate Chaminda Vaas. He is also the only bowler to take the highest consecutive wickets in the World Cup. He achieved this feat after dismissing 4 batsmen of South Africa in World Cup 2007.
