Anil Kumble on the 2008 Australia match and how he had decided to pull out from the tour

Former Indian skipper Kumble talked about him pulling out himself from the test cricket that was about to take place in the year 2007-2008.

The test match that took place at the time is still famous for its poor umpiring skills and monkey gate scandal, for which Harbhajan Singh was banned by ICC.

Kumble quoted saying about the then match “You know as a captain you are generally tuned to take decisions on the field. Here, I was faced with something, which was off the field, to take a decision in the larger interest of the game. And one of our players [Harbhajan Singh] was obviously banned for three matches because of a racist remark - that what the pronouncement was and we appealed,"

He added saying “I felt he was wronged. We had to obviously be together as a team but the challenge was that there was a lot of talk about the team wanting to come back at that point in time, and leave the tour and come back. Yes, you know, probably [people] would have accepted that the Indian team was wronged and that's why they came back,"

Talking, about spinner ace Harbhajan Singh as well.

Well, it was a match to have a glimpse at and we totally get your point, Mr Kumble.
