Another ODI, Another Century

In the third One-Day International against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli scored his 74th century overall. The dynamic player of the Indian team, Virat Kohli is touching the skies.


During the third game of the series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli broked two of Sachin Tendulkar's "World Records" in the process.


In addition, he overtook Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka as well as many other batters too to become the top 5 batters in ODI history in terms of runs scored.

 

Virat Kohli made his 46 hundred in one day international against Sri Lanka in Greenfield International Stadium today I.e., 15 Jan. With 4 centuries left, Kohli would surpass Tendulkar's record for the most hundreds in this fifty-over format.


Virat has completed his 46th ODI century today, whereas Tendulkar has in total scored 49 centuries in his one-day international career.


In the history of international cricket, Kohli now has 74 centuries. This century included 8 sixes and 13 fours. He made 166 runs off 110 balls against Sri Lanka in today's match, which is quite a very big score.


Let's talk about the other players too, the captain made 42 runs off 49 balls. Another century came from Shubman Gill, he made 116 runs off 97 balls.


Using 32 balls, another player named Shreyas Iyer scored 38 runs. This way our Indian team made a grand total of 390 runs which is very difficult for the opponent team to make.

 

In the third ODI of the series against the Sri Lankan team, the Indian side got off to a terrific start by winning the toss and electing to bat first. India made 2 changes in players today as Hardik and Umran both were removed by Suryakumar and Sundar.

 

The Sri Lanka team also made some changes bringing in Ashen and Jeffrey for Dhananjaya and Dunith.


The "run-machine" Virat Kohli scored another century in his match against Sri Lanka, in the process he is now head of the master blaster's all-time record in the list of most one-day internationals centuries at home itself.


In addition to his one T20 century, Kohli has 46 ODI centuries, 27 test tonnes, and one T20 to his credit. When he scored triple digits against the Sri Lankan team in the opening game of the series in Guwahati, Kohli matched Tendulkar's record.

 

Kohli achieved his 20th ODI century at home in 99 innings, as opposed to 160 innings for Sachin to accomplish the same feat. Kohli scored 9 hundred against the West Indies team, while Sachin scored as many hundreds as he scored against the Australian team.


Kohli has already beaten the record of Sachin where he scored eight hundred against the Sri Lankan team in the first ODI.
