BBC bans Michael Vaughan from commentary in Ashes

BBC has omitted former England captain Michael Vaughan from its commentary team for the forthcoming Ashes series against Australia as Vaughan has also been named along with other alleged cricketers in racism controversy involving former Pakistani cricketer Azeem Rafiq. Rafiq alleged that Vaughan had told him and two other cricketers of Asian origin before a match in 2009, there were "too many of you lot and we need to do something about it." However, Vaughan has strongly refuted the allegation. BBC has issued a statement saying that as Vaughan is involved in a significant story in cricket, it should not be appropriate to include him in the commentary team for editorial reasons. Vaughan commented he was disappointed with the decision but added, the controversy affecting the sport is bigger than his commentary issue.
