Carey will replace Paine and make his debut in Gabba

Alex Carey, the long-term successor of former wicketkeeper and captain Tim Paine, is going to make his debut for Australia in the forthcoming first Test of the Ashes series against England at Gabba, Brisbane on 8th December. Paine has been forced to quit cricket after being investigated for his controversial text messages sent to Cricket Tasmania female staff in 2017. Carey who has already represented Australia in 45 One Day International matches and 38 Twenty20 Internationals has been picked up for the first two Tests ahead of youngster Josh Inglis and set to become the 461st cricketer to represent Australia's Test team.
