Dwayne Bravo traded to Patriots ahead of CPL 2021

Caribbean Premier League champions Trinbago Knight Riders have accepted Dwayne Bravo's request and traded him to St Kitts & Nevis Patriots ahead of the 2021 season. 'Keeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin will move in the opposite direction as a part of the trade.

"At this stage of my career I needed a new challenge, which is to work with the young talent for the benefit of Cricket West Indies," the 37-year-old Bravo said in a statement. "Also becoming part of a new franchise SNKP will provide me with a new challenge in CPL. I want to thank TKR for respecting my wishes and for all their support over the years. I also appreciate everything they've done for Trinidad and Tobago in general."

Bravo has represented the four-time CPL champions since their inception in 2013, leading them to three titles, in 2015, 2017, and 2018. He served as deputy to current TKR captain Kieron Pollard as they went through last season without dropping a game. Sunil Narine will be Pollard's understudy in the leadership role this season. "DJ Bravo has been instrumental in not only building TKR into a champion team but also captained the team which earned three championships in 2015, 2017, and 2018," said team director Venky Mysore. “We are sad to see him leave but we respect his wishes.”

Incidentally, Ramdin has been part of the TKR set up between 2016 and 2019. He had moved to the Patriots only last year before returning to the Knight Riders. He has also played for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The ninth season of CPL will be played entirely at St Kitts & Nevis' Warner Park, starting August 28.
