Gavaskar opines Venkatesh Iyer should get chances
Sunil Gavaskar, the legendary Indian batter has spoken in favor of Venkatesh Iyer the batter who had glittered in the Dubai-leg of last IPL. He took part in 10 matches and scored 370 runs along with three wickets in the IPL. Gavaskar has opined that Iyer should be groomed to bat in the lower order and his bowling skills also should be utilized. Gavaskar has stated, "Venkatesh should be groomed to bat down the order at number six or number seven and his medium pace should also be utilized in a 4-over spell." The former Indian opener also stressed the issue that Venkatesh should get chances. He at least does not meet the same fate as Vijay Shankar and Shivam Dube. The duo despite showing initial promise did not get adequate opportunity to play for India.
