Hussey says Gill will be one of the League's leading scorers this season
David Hussey, the chief mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has stood by opener Shubman Gill, who has come under scrutiny for his string of low scores. In five games, Gill has just two scores above 20 so far. He scored only 11 against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai on 24th April on Saturday, failing to give his side any impetus in the early overs.
Hussey praising for his opener cited the example of Gill's magnificent form in the Test in Australia. Hussey said, "One thing I do know is that he took the Test match arena by storm in Australia.” The chief mentor is also optimistic about Gill’s hard work at the nets. Hussey sticks to the traditional statement that form is temporary, but class is permanent. According to Hussey, Gill is such a talented batsman that he will be one of the leading scorers in the ongoing League.
KKR had a disappointing day with the bat that set the tone of the match. With just 25 runs in the power-play, KKR had a lot to make up for. Only Rahul Tripathi tried to fight in the middle-order while wickets fell at the other end.
